World Premieres of Andrea Clearfield’s “The Drift of Things – Winter Songs” and Daron Hagen’s “After Words” commissioned by Lyric Fest in commemoration of its 10th Anniversary season.
A double-concert offering, two programs together explored the inward journey of love and loss. Schubert’s great masterwork, Die Winterreise, performed Friday by Randall Scarlata and Laura Ward, followed by Sunday’s concert of two newly commissioned song cycles inspired by Schubert’s cycle. A meet-the-composer talk with Clearfield and Hagen followed Sunday’s performance.
