Hannah Nicholas is a violist, writer, and teacher. She is the principal violist of the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra and performs with the Philadelphia Orchestra as a substitute violist. She has also toured with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra (ECCO), and was previously the principal violist of the Central City Opera in Colorado as well as a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. In Philadelphia, Hannah has appeared on series including the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Bowerbird, SoFar Sounds, Rittenhouse Soundworks Musicians’ Gatherings, Al Bustan Seeds of Culture, the Network for New Music, and the Barnes Museum as part of the 2017 resident Barnes Ensemble. She’s given solo viola performances at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage in Washington D.C., the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland, and the New World Symphony.
